Hiking in summer: Precautions to Take

Travel, Trips, Holidays, HikingHiking is meant to vitalize your life. If you have fun hiking, you will naturally be full of energy and freshness when you return. On the other hand, if you are exhausted and feel sick, the entire motive of hiking is ruined. While most people avoid hiking in the summers, you can go for hiking if you feel like without falling sick. Just take a few precautions.

Drink plenty of water. Use refills as and when you find a stream or a spring. It is not the normal 8-10 glasses as you take when you are home. It is much more. You need around a gallon to avoid sickness.
Carry ample snacks with you. Take frequent breaks while hiking up and coming down. Keep taking snacks as and when you feel hungry.

Do not go up till you are tired. Keep some energy for the return. Most of us assume that going down requires less energy. Maybe it is true to some extent but the energy required is not so less that you go up till you are fully exhausted.

Carry the first aid kit with you. Also, keep a cellphone with emergency numbers. You can also use a GPS that may help others find you in case anything unexpected happens.

Make the most of the hiking trip with these safety precautions on your side. The most important point is to stay happy and to know when to return.
