Things to do in Northwest Territories

Northwest Territories have amazing historic waterways and visitors can hire boats to take trips along the Great Bear and Great Slave Lakes and the Mackenzie River. The boat trips follow the routes that were used for fur-trading and old trapping.

Hiking is also popular an exciting activity to engage in while you are in the area. There are 4 national parks that have good hiking trails that you can use. The Canal Heritage Trail offers a route that is more challenging and is a suitable option for experienced trekkers. This trail takes you several valleys and mountains.

To get a good look at some of the wildlife in the Northwest Territories, you can stay in one of the wilderness lodges in the area. A majority of these lodges can only be accessed by air therefore it is a great option for those who want to enjoy a peaceful vacation in the area.
